Cape Town City Bowl A Must For Foodies

The Mother City is known for her fresh and organic food markets and the new City Bowl Market on Hope makes for a wonderful addition to the extensive list.

Held each Saturday in a gorgeous old building on 14 Hope Street in the peaceful suburb of Gardens, the market is a delicious showcase of some of the best fresh produce, flowers and homemade delicacies in town.

Spend the day meandering between stalls laden with tasty goodies like oysters, champagne, crepes, sushi, croissants and more. From creamy cheeses and flavoursome curries to sweet, homemade chocolate, you’ll find it all at the City Bowl Market.

Another selling point is the low prices for veggies (tomatoes and potatoes for as little as R5!) and if you’re feeling a bit parched, there is a lovely bar upstairs where you can quench your thirst.

Traders include nut and dried fruit connoisseur By Nature, authentic Indian purveyor 25 Rupees, Saszali Chocolates and boutique caterer Sweetie Pie, who were all handpicked to trade at the market.

Shopping or browsing here is also a wonderful opportunity for quality family time as there is plenty to keep the little ones entertained from the huge garden to the jungle gym.
Be sure to take a peek at the jewellery on display too like the beautiful designs of Spirit Jewellery – you’re sure to find something sparkly that you’ll love.

The City Bowl Market on Hope is held each Saturday. For more info please visit www.citybowlmarket.co.za.
