The lighthouse in Kommetjie, called Slangkop (Afrikaans for ‘snake head’) has been burning on the shores of the Atlantic since 1917, warning ships about the rocky coastline. You can enjoy a guided tour of this beacon, one of South Africa’s oldest lighthouses. The lighthouse keeper will take you up the internal spiral staircase all the way to the top with its panoramic views.

January is now behind us as one of Cape Town’s busiest months. It’s been hot and sunny, and there have been loads of summer events to attend and activities to enjoy.
February brings long warm sunny days, warm and pleasant evenings and blue skies with temperatures reaching over 30°C. Rain is scarce the sun sets after 8pm and there is always something going on. With the holiday season in the rear view mirror, Cape Town’s beaches are less populated yet the weather is still perfect for a day by the sea.

Many people believe this is the best time to visit Cape Town, so pack your sandals, swimsuits, shorts and dresses and loads of sunscreen and join us. The stunning beaches, water sports, mountains, views, outdoors activities and adventures are here to enjoy.

The wineries in and around Cape Town are at their best and allow visitors to participate in the gathering and juicing of grapes as two of the nation’s top wine regions, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, both host wine festivals in February.

In Late February – The decade old Constantia Fresh Food and Wine Festival has evolved to become one of South Africa’s most prestigious wine events. Top chefs prepare gourmet foods to accompany wines offered by several dozen local and international wineries. Craft beers and live music are also on the menu. It’s hosted at Buitenverwachting Wine Farm, in the heart of Constantia, in South Africa’s oldest wine region.

March is then the beginning of the shoulder season, when the summer holiday crowds have left and there are a number of very big events; including the Two Oceans Marathon, the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and then the Easter Weekend, this time of year can be very busy, and flights and accommodation are booked up long in advance.
